The default template variables should work for most websites. As for meta descriptions, please remember that WordPress SEO takes descriptions from your tags and categories.
If you do not have any meta description for terms in your tags, categories or custom taxonomies, then WordPress SEO does not add any meta in archives for these terms.
The Archives tab have title and meta settings for date archives, author archives, and special pages such as 404 pages. We recommended you to check disable author archives for single author blogs. The main blog and the author archives contain same content when you are running single author blog. Here are the settings to prevent duplicate content. Leave other settings as they are and click on the save changes button.
The other tab is the final tab with some additional settings. You can disable picking up meta descriptions from Yahoo or Dmoz directories for your pages. If you don’t know about those clearly, then just leave all of them as unchecked.
Step 7: Social

The first tab available in the social is for all your social accounts. This WordPress SEO allows you to tell Google about your social profiles. Here you need to simply add your social profile URLs and Twitter username of your website.
The Next tab is Facebook, here you need to check the box which says add open graph metadata. Step 8: XML Sitemaps

The WordPress Yoast SEO makes easy to add XML sitemaps in WordPress. XML Sitemaps settings are divided into different tabs.
First, you have to make a check at the box “Check this box to enable XML sitemap functionality”.
After that, click on the “User Sitemap” tab and disable author/user sitemap.
Click on the next tab post type, If you want to disable any post then you can disable it from here. By default WordPress Yoast SEO disables Media Attachments from sitemaps. If you are using a custom post type that you don’t want to be included, then you can disable it here.

The next option is Tools under SEO Section. It has 3 different tools those are bulk editor, file editor, import and export. The bulk editor tool allows you to edit post title and post descriptions in bulk. We are not recommending this to you. Becuase duplicate title and descriptions can cause damage to your WordPress SEO.
